The Lone Star Art Therapist: Ethics and Benefits of Supporting Professional Associations

Facilitated by Deborah D. Murphy, LPC-AT-S and Vicki Williams-Patterson, LPC-AT-S

This experiential workshop will cover art therapists' ethics, rules, identity and connection to professional memberships specific to Texas. Participants are also invited to join an Open Art Studio from 10am-1pm before the CEU event.

Participants will:

1. Examine and compare rules and regulations of the LPC-AT and ATR-BC as it applies to clinical practice and employment.

2. Through an experiential exercise, identify what makes an ethical art therapist.

3. Through group discussion, recognize at least 3 components in active professional membership that supports one's professional journey.

Workshop Details:

  • Date: Saturday, September 26

  • Time: 1:30 – 4:00 PM

  • Location: Ecumenical Center Jones Hall, 8310 Ewing Halsell Drive, San Antonio, TX, 78229

  • Cost: FREE for STATA members, $50 for non-members

  • 2.5 CEU hours

  • All materials provided; ECJH is an accessible venue for folks using mobility aids
