The Mobile Art Program (MAP) provides art classes at 6 of the Housing Authority for the City of Austin (HACA) through a grant called Healthy Connections. By sharing their talents with the community, MAP participants experience a concrete evidence of accomplishment and resulting self-esteem; a deeper understanding of their own past and present experience; and increased social interaction and friendship in a group setting. Learning is a continuous lifelong process that plays a role in keeping mentally active and promoting personal development.

We are looking for art instructors to lead classes once or twice a month in 2020 at various locations throughout the city. The classes are two hours long, typically on a weekday, between 1:pm and 4:pm, depending on the location. We allow up to 12 participants per session however the average class size is 8. The projects should be interesting and age appropriate.

Our pay rate is $45 per hour ($90 per session). Unfortunately we cannot pay for prep time. The classes are provided free of charge to the residents and we supply all of the supplies. In our space at the AGE of Central Texas building we have a large supply of art materials to choose from. If you have a project idea that requires additional supplies, we can order them for you.

If you are interested in teaching a class, please contact Theresa at mobileart@mail.org
