Black Art in America: Military-Inspired Art Exhibit

On July 27-28th 2018 "Black Art In America" presented Military Inspired Art Exhibit https://blackartinamerica.com/index.php/2018/07/05/m-i-a-military-inspired-art-show-houston-summer-2018/

Last weekend we had the pleasure of presenting this show at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum in Houston, Texas. Since America’s inception, African Americans have made contributions to the defense of the country, and have made a lasting impression on the World of Art. There is no doubt that times of war had and still has a major influence on Art. What may not be known to the masses is that some of our men and women in the armed forces are also artists.

In an effort to pay homage to that bravery, heroism and artistry, the M.I.A. : Military Inspired Art show will create an atmosphere where veterans and active duty men and women of all ethnicities can showcase their talents off the battlefield, along with modern and contemporary artists who may have been influenced by the military.

Holiday Party - Dec 10, 2017

Our 2017 holiday party had a great turnout and was a lot of fun! Thanks to Cloud Tree Studio for hosting us in Austin. We enjoyed connecting with each other, playing an art-themed gift swap game, and making painted rocks.

Sign up - Art Show at Bass Concert Hall

STATA has an opportunity to hang an art show at the Bass Concert Hall and all STATA members are invited to participate.

Installation of the show would be the first or second week in January and the show will stay up until March.

There is no specific theme or size, so you are encouraged to submit any art pieces that you are excited about. We have not been given a size limit, but be mindful that art pieces need to have a way to be hung (make sure your art is ready to hang, either framed or with hanging wire in the canvas). Feel free to use art that was already in the Connections show.

Initial signup is for 1 piece each, but this may be expanded, depending on the number of therapists that want to participate. Bass Concert Hall will take the info from this spreadsheet to create display tags.

You must sign up on the Google spreadsheet if you want to participate:
